Every facility, from a government office to an oil field or a warehouse, has people, assets and information worth protecting. This self-study course gives security staff and supervisors a practical, step-by-step approach to protecting a site, from understanding the threats to responding when an emergency happens.
Across six lessons you will follow a realistic case study: a logistics hub near Khor Al-Zubair in Basra with 380 staff and 160 trucks a day, where thefts and unauthorised entries are rising. You will see how its new security manager surveys the site by day and night, assesses and maps the risks, builds layers of protection and security zones, tightens visitor, vehicle, key and badge control, changes how guards patrol and report, repairs lighting and cameras, protects information, organises emergency roles and runs evacuation drills until everyone is out in five minutes. You will learn the types of facility and the threats they face, external and internal threats, security risk assessment, threats, vulnerabilities and risk, likelihood and impact, risk treatment, defence in depth, deter, detect, delay, respond and recover, security zones, the contents of a security plan, visitor procedures, identity checks, tailgating, vehicle inspection and gate passes, key and badge control, guard duties and conduct, the limits of a guard's authority, security technology, information security, incident reporting, the emergency planning cycle, evacuation, lockdown, bomb threats, emergency roles, drills and security performance indicators. Each lesson includes diagrams, worked examples and short questions that check your understanding, and the course ends with a 20-question final exam.
