Most hand and eye injuries happen to people who had protective equipment but were not wearing it, or were wearing the wrong type. This self-study induction course teaches every new and existing worker how to choose, wear, check and look after personal protective equipment (PPE), and how to read the safety signs and colour codes found on every industrial site.
Across eight lessons you will follow Hussam, a new fitter's helper at a steel fabrication workshop in Basra. You will learn why PPE is the last line of defence and how to choose it with a simple hazard assessment; how helmets, safety glasses, goggles, face shields and welding helmets work and what their markings mean (ANSI Z89.1, Z87.1, EN 397, EN 166); how noise damages hearing, how long you can be exposed, and how to fit earplugs and check that they protect enough; how to choose a respirator by oxygen level, hazard, filter colour and protection factor, with fit testing and seal checks and the rules for H2S areas; how to choose gloves (EN 388, EN ISO 374), safety footwear (EN ISO 20345 S1 to S7), flame-resistant and high-visibility clothing; fall-arrest harness basics; how to manage PPE in the Basra summer heat; and how to inspect, store and replace PPE. The last two lessons cover safety signs by shape and colour (ISO 7010, ISO 3864 and ANSI Z535), pipe marking (ASME A13.1), gas cylinder colours, floor marking, barricade tapes and minimum site PPE rules. The course includes 49 original diagrams, charts and sign drawings, three narrated videos, downloadable templates and a 25-question final exam.

ستتابع على مدى ثمانية دروس حسام، مساعد عامل التركيب الجديد في ورشة لتصنيع الفولاذ في البصرة. ستتعلم لماذا تُعد معدات الوقاية خط الدفاع الأخير وكيف تختارها بتقييم بسيط للمخاطر، وكيف تعمل الخوذات ونظارات السلامة والنظارات المحكمة وواقيات الوجه وأقنعة اللحام وما معنى علاماتها، وكيف تضر الضوضاء بالسمع وكم يمكن التعرض لها وكيف تُدخل السدادات وتتحقق من كفاية الحماية، وكيف تختار جهاز التنفس حسب الأكسجين والخطر ولون الفلتر وعامل الحماية مع اختبار الملاءمة وفحص الإحكام وقواعد مناطق كبريتيد الهيدروجين، وكيف تختار القفازات وأحذية السلامة والملابس المقاومة للهب وعالية الوضوح، وأساسيات حزام منع السقوط، وإدارة المعدات في صيف البصرة، وفحص المعدات وحفظها واستبدالها. ويغطي الدرسان الأخيران علامات السلامة حسب الشكل واللون (ISO 7010 وISO 3864 وANSI Z535) وتعليم الأنابيب وألوان أسطوانات الغاز وتعليم الأرضيات وأشرطة الحواجز والحد الأدنى من المعدات في الموقع. تتضمن الدورة 49 رسماً ومخططاً وعلامة مرسومة وثلاثة فيديوهات مسموعة ونماذج للتنزيل واختباراً نهائياً من 25 سؤالاً.
