Most chemical injuries happen because someone did not know what was in the container or how dangerous it was. This self-study course teaches workers, supervisors and storekeepers how to understand and act on chemical hazard information, based on the UN Globally Harmonized System (GHS, 11th revised edition), the OSHA Hazard Communication Standard as updated in 2024, and Iraqi Labour Law No. 37 of 2015.

Across eight lessons you will follow Narjis, the HSE coordinator at a chemical supplier in Basra, after an unlabelled jerrycan of corrosion inhibitor burned a cleaner's hands. You will learn how chemicals cause fires, burns and illness and how they enter the body; flash points and exposure limits; GHS hazard classes and categories, the nine pictograms, signal words and H and P statements; supplier and workplace labels, the NFPA 704 diamond, HMIS bars and transport placards; and how to find what you need in a 16-section safety data sheet, with a worked methanol example. You will then apply the hierarchy of controls, choose chemical gloves and respirator filters, check eyewash stations, store chemicals using a compatibility chart, avoid dangerous mixtures, respond to spills and give first aid. Finally you will set up a hazard communication programme: inventory, purchasing control, training, contractors and common oil and gas chemicals. The course includes 50 diagrams and charts, three narrated videos, downloadable templates and a 25-question final exam.

تقع معظم إصابات المواد الكيميائية لأن أحداً لم يعرف ما في الحاوية أو مدى خطورته. تعلّم هذه الدورة للدراسة الذاتية العاملين والمشرفين وأمناء المخازن كيف يفهمون معلومات مخاطر المواد ويعملون بها، استناداً إلى النظام المنسق عالمياً للأمم المتحدة (GHS، المراجعة الحادية عشرة) ومعيار الأوشا لنقل المعلومات عن المخاطر بتحديثه لعام 2024 وقانون العمل العراقي رقم 37 لسنة 2015.

ستتابع على مدى ثمانية دروس نرجس، منسقة السلامة في شركة مواد كيميائية في البصرة، بعد أن أحرق جالون مانع تآكل بلا ملصق يدي عامل نظافة. ستتعلم كيف تسبب المواد الحرائق والحروق والأمراض وكيف تدخل الجسم، ونقاط الوميض وحدود التعرض، وفئات GHS ودرجاتها والرموز التسعة وكلمات التنبيه وعبارات H وP، وملصقات المورد ومكان العمل ومعيّن NFPA 704 وشريط HMIS ولوحات النقل، وكيف تجد ما تحتاجه في صحيفة بيانات السلامة ذات الأقسام الستة عشر مع مثال تطبيقي على الميثانول. ثم تطبّق تسلسل إجراءات التحكم، وتختار القفازات الكيميائية ومرشحات الكمامات، وتفحص محطات غسول العين، وتخزّن المواد بجدول التوافق، وتتجنب الخلطات الخطرة، وتستجيب للانسكاب وتقدم الإسعاف. وأخيراً تنشئ برنامج نقل المعلومات عن المخاطر: الجرد والتحكم في الشراء والتدريب والمقاولون ومواد النفط والغاز الشائعة. تتضمن الدورة 50 رسماً ومخططاً وثلاثة فيديوهات مسموعة ونماذج للتنزيل واختباراً نهائياً من 25 سؤالاً.

Storekeepers, warehouse staff, operators, technicians, laboratory staff, cleaners, drivers, supervisors and HSE officers who handle, store, transport or supervise work with chemicals in oil and gas, water treatment, manufacturing, construction and maintenance. No previous training is needed.
