Your project: from messy files to a dashboard

Every month the branches send sales files. Someone copies them into one sheet, fixes dates and names by hand, and builds a report that is out of date a week later. In this course you build a system that cleans the files by itself, answers questions with formulas and PivotTables, and shows a Power BI dashboard that updates with one click.

Meet Nahrain Foods

Nahrain Foods is an example food distributor with three branches: Baghdad, Basra and Erbil. Each branch exports its sales to Excel in its own way. Sara, the company's analyst, is asked by the general manager, Mr. Faris, for one simple thing: "Show me sales, margin and growth by branch and category, every month, without waiting a week."

• Download the course starter files (course documents) and unzip them to a folder such as C:\Nahrain.
• The Sales folder holds the three messy branch files. Do not fix them by hand: that is the point of the course.
• Products.xlsx, Branches.xlsx and Customers.xlsx are clean lookup tables.
• answer-key.txt gives the correct totals, so you can check your cleaning.
